There will definitely have to be a section on illustrations and their creators. I've got a couple of books illustrated by Arthur Rackham, and they cover fairy drawings and tourist illustrations. Equally stunning are some of the botanical and natural history drawings in my books.

And what about book covers? Gilt lettering will get you so far, but a good cover design is an attractive proposition.

Of course, if you're buying books just for their spines, you might as well buy the wallpaper images of books that lined a bar I was in recently.
